Cats are believed to have first been domesticated in Egypt. Cats are used to defend grain storage from rats and mice in the past. The Egyptian goddess of love and fertility, resembled a cat. However, during the 15th century, in Europe, cats were considered evil. Cat owners were somehow accused of witchcraft. They were burned and the cat population decrease dramatically.
Today, cats are accepted and not seen as evil anymore. They are considered playful, loving, and easily adapting to home life. Cats are very intelligent and extremely observant creatures. They are able to learn things quickly and can be very curious and excited over new things. Cats are able to play and entertain themselves when given a toy or even just a string. When given a lot of love and attention, cats too can become very loyal companion.
One unique thing about cats is that they like to spend time alone. They can actually be very happy on their own. Cats come from a species which is solitary and territorial. They need to have their own personal space. There is always a misconception that cats are lazy because they usually sleep during the day. However, there is a reason behind it. They are usually more active during the evenings and mornings, as it is their hunting time. That is why cats prefer to sleep during the day.
